Sentencing Guidelines for Singapore Medical Disciplinary Tribunals
The Guidelines aims to help the Disciplinary Tribunals in ensuring consistency and fairness in the sentences meted out, and improve transparency and rigour in the disciplinary processes.
The Sentencing Guidelines Committee, appointed by the Singapore Medical Council, has produced a set of Sentencing Guidelines for Singapore Medical Disciplinary Tribunals (“the Guidelines”). The Guidelines aims to help the Disciplinary Tribunals (“DTs”) in ensuring consistency and fairness in the sentences meted out, and improve transparency and rigour in the disciplinary processes.
The Guidelines are to guide DTs in their decision making in an instructive manner and are neither exhaustive nor intended to be prescriptive. The application of the Guidelines is dependent on the specific facts and circumstances of the case before the DT.
