Provisional registration
Allows a medical graduate who wishes to obtain a certificate of experience to be employed as a Postgraduate Year 1 (PGY1) trainee in one or more approved hospitals in Singapore for a period of 12 months.
Eligibility requirements:
Provisional registration may be granted to a doctor who:
holds an MBBS/MD degree awarded by a medical school in the First Schedule [PDF, 59 KB] of the Medical Registration Act; or
holds a basic1 medical degree from a university/ medical school listed in the Second Schedule of the Medical Registration Act. (also see important notes [PDF, 21 KB]).
1Medical degree obtained via a 'twinning programme' would be considered only if the clinical training years and final examinations are done and completed at the medical school or university listed in the Second Schedule and in the country where the medical school or university in the Second Schedule is situated.
Note:
Application for provisional registration must be submitted through a local employer whose hospitals are accredited for the training of PGY1 trainees in Singapore.
Provisionally registered doctors holding MBBS/MD degree awarded by a medical school in the First Schedule [PDF, 59 KB] of the Medical Registration Act may apply for full registration after they have fulfilled the prevailing conditions for full registration.
Provisionally registered doctors holding a degree from a university/medical school listed in the Second Schedule of the Medical Registration Act (also see important notes [PDF, 21 KB]) may apply for conditional registration after they have fulfilled the prevailing conditions for conditional registration.
Medical graduate applying for provisional registration must start PGY1 training within two years of graduation from medical school.
