Providers from medical societies / VWOs
Applicant must be registered with the Registry of Societies, meet membership criteria, plan at least 4 CME activities a year, and not be linked to commercial entities.
Criteria
The applicant must be registered with the Registry of Societies. If the applicant is a Voluntary Welfare Organisation (VWO), it must be a not-for-profit organisation; and
If it is a medical society, at least 30% of the members (full membership) are registered medical practitioners; and at least 50% (inclusive of the 30% who are registered medical practitioners) of the members are medical or healthcare professionals; and
The applicant must produce plans to organise at least 4 CME activities a year. The activities should serve to maintain, develop or increase the knowledge, skills and professional performance of a doctor.
If the activities are planned on an ad-hoc basis (e.g. 1 or 2 times per year), applicants are advised to look for co-organisers, which are SMC-accredited providers, to apply for CME accreditation on their behalf.
The medical society should not be set up by or associated with pharmaceutical / commercial companies.
